Husband and I were starting to plan for a trip within the state once the lockdown was easing. We started checking multiple places and we didn’t mind even if we had to travel to places we have been before. We wanted to go either to a Hill station or a beach resort and we decided on hill station so that we can go relax and enjoy the weather. Since we have been to Ooty and Kodai every once in 2 or 3 years we thought we will visit Yercaud this time. As usual we wanted to travel with Meow, so I started exploring places which are pet friendly and landed in this beautiful place called INDeco.
Indeco – lake forest at Yercaud is situated right next to the Lake and its an old 18th century British ran coffee estate farm converted to a hotel. The best part of the the hotel is, it still carries the old British architecture and is set in the middle of lush green coffee plantation. Each room is unique in it own way and they have reused all the old furnitures which creates a rustic look to the rooms. They do have some antique collections from the British era like the manual fan, grinding machine etc and looks of old pictures from 18th and 19th century. One picture which caught my instant attention was the tariff from the Connemera hotel, Chennai.
Each room is situated in different locations, for some you might need to walk up the hill and some down hill. If you are planning to visit this place with elderly people you might want to call and check with them to book a room which is feasible and near the reception or dining area. Another point which I liked about this place is they don’t harm any creature big or small. You will find small guests like snails, spiders inside the room and as long you don’t harm them they also will quietly stay inside the room and meow went super happy seeing small creatures and she wanted to play with them 🙂 and they do have 3 friendly dogs inside the hotel and regular visits by the monkeys.
The service and hospitality was great, any issue in the room or in the place is well taken care of and immediately addressed. The staff were very friendly and took great care even of Meow.

Breakfast comes along with the room package and they had some nice hot piping idli, pongal, sambar, vadai, live dosa counter along with breads and cereals. They do serve dinner buffet and it costs around Rs. 300 per person which had some rotis, breads, veg and non veg gravies to go along. We stayed during the weekend and they had some good entertainments in the evenings with DJ, games and barbecue.

The place is very near to the lake, like 100 or 200 Mts away and you get good restaurants around if you want to go out and eat. Evenings we took a stroll around the lake having some hot ginger tea with some snacks.
Since we just wanted to relax and not visit much places, we only went to the Shevaroy temple which is like small cave and have some beautiful spots to relax. The drive till the Shevaroy temple is like 10 Kms from the lake and it has some breath taking views. Highly recommend if you are visiting Yercaud. On the way we bought from oranges and bananas which are grown in the hill ranges which tasted good. There are other places to visit like the view point and falls if you are going for the first time and interested. The weather in November was amazing with less than 20 deg celsius and slight drizzles.

It costed around 15k for both of us together for a round trip from Chennai to Yercaud including travel, stay and meals. You can do it cheaper if you are travelling via train and since we drove the fuel costed us more. The rooms vary in price according to the Suite you book and if you call them you can negotiate for a better price. The hotel details and tariff are in the link.If you bringing pets along I think they charge Rs.1000 extra for the room. This is perfect weekend getaway for anyone who wants enjoy Nature and relax.
