Wild Garden Cafe – Amethyst

It’s been a while since I had posted restaurant reviews, reasons being one – its more than a year we haven’t been to much of restaurants due to covid and two – before I think of taking pictures I start eating and then when the meal is over I realise that I forgot to take pics 😛 Should make it more of a habit and the very few pics I take it also the reminder from husband that I own a blog and should write about the review (sometimes I do appreciate him 😀 )

Amethyst is one of my all time favourite coffee shop/restaurant for me. I love the cafes or restaurants which is situated in middle of lush green space with out door seatings to spend sometime in the evening. Amethyst is situated right in the centre of the city and not many know that there is such a pleasant ambience in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Royapettah, Chennai. Its an old British style building converted into a cafe with both indoor and outdoor seatings. I love the outdoor seating since they have so much green space around and also each seating has its own private space. Other main reason being they allow pets and meow loves this place but the only problem with her is there are cats around and she starts barking seeing them and people would take turns to come and pet her.

Since we went late evening, I couldn’t take better pictures with my mobile due to minimum lights outside. Next time I’ll take better pictures and update in the blog.

Coming to the menu, they have a minimalistic continental menu which is quite expensive but its worth for such an ambience. The food also tastes good. We went there for an evening coffee/tea so had some beverages and small bites. Husband and I ordered each one drink and one snack, I prefer masala tea anytime in the evening and he had a vanilla milkshake. Both were good and the masala tea was a kettle full. If you are a book and tea lover, recommendation would be sitting with a book and sipping the tea slowly. On the snack side, we had a mutton kheema samosa and cheese fries. Mutton kheema Samos was top notch but overly priced and cheese fries was good too. The overall bill was around Rs. 1200 for the four items we ordered.

Overall I would rate this a highly preferable one if you like these ambiences but might be a little expensive.

Ambience – 5/5
Food – 4/5
Service – 4/5
Value for money – 3.5/5
Overall – 4.5/5
